So I apologize for slowing down my posts at the end of last season. I’ve recommitted to posting again, and wanted to let you know we had a GREAT show at the Middleburg Classic back in September – especially for our adult riders! Kat Mohan rode Ayrton, owned by her daughter, Glendon, in the Adult Amateur Hunters. This was her first three-foot hunter division in a long time and a welcome return to the ring! We were so excited when Kat placed eighth in one of the classes. Middleburg is NOT an easy show to have as your return to the show ring. It was super-competitive. We had a big cheering section – we found Ayrton at Tony Workman’s Winter Hill Farm – so Ayrton’s former owner, Skip Reese, and Tom Brennan and Tony and their riders all cheered like crazy for Kat and you’ve never seen such a huge grin in those closing circles! Congratulations Kat! That eighth place ribbon was as good as a blue!!!

Shannon deWit also had a fantastic show on her Basking By The Bay. Bailey, as he’s known in the barn, was fabulous in the Adult Amateur Hunters. This was Shannon’s first time in a rated Hunter division and just her third time showing at three foot. She’s made such progress in the past couple of years. She went around gamely and had a great time. Bailey was a super-star. Shannon recently retired Bailey, so it was an especially meaningful show for the two of them. What a great job!!!

Our junior riders also did well: Kate Murphy on Charisma and Ali Anderson on Zenith did very well in the Children’s Hunters and they finished in sixth and seventh, respectively, in the Children’s Hunter Classic. Elizabeth Parent placed second in one of the Small Pony Hunter classes and finished in eighth place in the Pony Hunter Classic. Congrats to Madison Busey and Figaro on their good ribbons in the Large Children’s Pony Hunters. Emma Hess on Blackberry Storm won a Small/Medium Children’s Pony Hunter class and Sydney Hess on Close Kin placed well in the Large Children’s Pony Hunter. Great job!!!

It was a great weekend and we LOVE having such a nice show practically in our backyard at Morven Park!
