Terri Young - Owner / Head Trainer
Terri Young has over 20 years of experience working with horses. As a junior, Terri trained with hunter/jumper legends Ann Kursinski and Frank Madden, competing in the prestigious Medal and Maclay equitation classes. More recently, Terri rode with two-time Olympian Lendon Gray and worked for Richard Bayha in Germany (member of the German National Show Jumping Squad), managing a 40-horse training and sales operation and competing on horses at all levels of experience.
Prior to purchasing the current facility, Terri most recently managed a training and lesson barn of 12 horses in Leesburg, Virginia. She taught riding lessons from beginner through advanced level, and provided coaching at horse shows. She also trained and competed horses of various levels, from baby green hunters in local VHSA recognized competitions to Pre-Green Hunters and Level 4 Jumpers at A-rated horse shows.
Terri has always believed that a strong business background is a major component of operating a large-scale training, lesson and boarding stable. To that end, Terri also spent several years in the corporate world, where she honed her financial, analytical and presentation skills. She spent three years working for Ultramar Travel Management in New York City, where she was Director of e-Commerce. Upon moving to Northern Virginia, she worked for Omega World Travel as a Proposal Specialist, creating proposals for organizations such as Fortune 500 companies and government agencies.
Terri is a graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Business Management. During her time there, Terri was captain of the equestrian team and competed and placed in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association National Championships.
Terri’s love of horses, combined with her strong business background, has spurred her desire to purchase and develop one of the top equestrian centers in Northern Virginia.
Terri and her husband, Don, live on the farm with their dog and two cats.

Kristin Gray – Associate Instructor
Kristin Gray is certified by the American Riding Instructors Association. She has over sixteen years of experience showing horses in Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage and Eventing.
At the age of sixteen, Kristin began teaching lessons at Highland Grove Stables in Plainfield, Vermont. She became the manager and part owner of the farm in 2000. Kristin taught the 20+ students in the lesson program as well as coaching the show team at shows throughout New England. Kristin’s broad background has included training stints with many accomplished equestrians such as Deirdre Cooke (Hunters and Equitation), Judy Whipple (Hunters and Dressage), Bill McMullen (Dressage), and Lisa Smith (Combined Training).
In addition to teaching, Kristin also enjoys training horses from starting youngsters to putting the finishing touches on show horses. She is also Trainer and Sales Manager for Bryce Equine Enterprises, which has relocated from Vermont to Purcellville, Virginia. She has imported, trained and sold Irish sport horses for the business and is currently training a few select warmbloods.
Kristin’s greatest joy is teaching. Currently she is working towards her Masters Certification through the ARIA. Kristin believes in always furthering her education and experience not only to improve her own skills as a rider, but to pass this knowledge on through teaching students to ride and to become better horsemen and –women.
